Reddit Discussion on org-mode Life Management

Interest here is obvious. I write this blog in Emacs and do most of my note-taking and drafting and occasional coding in it. Essentially if you’ve ever wished computers never evolved beyond the green-text-on-black-screen phase, Emacs is probably for you.
I’ve never actually accomplished “living in” Emacs, and I’m not sure I’d want to. So much of life can’t be captured in text. But for the parts that can, I generally know what I want to do with them.
My problem is I read a lot of sources like this and get lots of good ideas for how I might live in Emacs. But simultaneously with my passion for organization and information, I harbor a great contempt toward order and structure, and have extreme difficulty embracing or sticking with any sort of system. And so I’m wary about buying into any of these techniques or doing the work to configure Emacs around them, because I know I’m just going to abandon them once I lose interest, and then my config will be cluttered with a bunch of setup that I never use.
I get the sense this is a common problem in the Emacs community. I haven’t really resolved it for myself at all.
